Hold Duration is an iOS setting that controls how long you need to press and hold an item on the screen before it counts as a selection. It helps prevent accidental selections and makes touch input easier for people with motor impairments.
Turn On Hold Duration
- Open Settings, then select Accessibility.
- Under “Physical and Motor” select Touch.
- Select Touch Accommodations.
- Select Settings
- Toggle Hold Duration on.
Set and Adjust the Hold Time
- Tap the + or – buttons in the box below “Hold Duration” to choose how long the screen needs to be touched before a touch is recognized.
- Choose a time anywhere from a fraction of a second to a few seconds.
- Now, any selection you make on your QuickTalker Freestyle will require you to hold the touch for this length of time.
Enable Hold Duration in Your Speech App
If you’d like to turn on Hold Duration in your speech app, but not across the QuickTalker Freestyle, check your speech app settings. Many speech apps have their own version of this feature, often called Touch Accommodations or Dwell.
