Your QuickTalker Freestyle comes with Orientation Lock turned on, so your speech app stays sideways (landscape). If you want the screen to turn when you rotate the device, you can turn Orientation Lock off and turn it back on at any time. 

Instructions 

1. Swipe down with one finger from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center. 
2. Tap Orientation Lock (the lock with a circular arrow around it) to turn it off. 
3. Swipe up, or tap an empty area of the screen, to close Control Center. 

You can now turn your device upright (portrait) or sideways (landscape), and the screen will follow. To keep the screen sideways again, repeat these steps and tap Orientation Lock to turn it back on.
