Getting your device connected and secure doesn’t have to be complicated! Whether you just got a new device or want to make your current one more secure, this guide will help set up a passcode and make your device trackable in case it gets lost.

Before you do any of the steps below, be sure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi.

Passcode Creation Steps🔗

A passcode keeps your device secure from unintended changes or access to secure data.

1. Go to Settings, then tap Touch ID & Passcode.
2. Tap Turn Passcode On.
3. Tap Passcode Options.
4. Select 4 Digit Passcode.
5. Type in a memorable passcode.
   • We recommend writing down your passcode and sharing it with the other team members (parents, caregivers, SLPs, etc.) to ensure consistent access.
6. Scroll down and tap Require Passcode.
7. Choose how long to wait before asking for the passcode again.

Set up TouchID (optional)🔗

TouchID is a security feature that uses your fingerprint to unlock and sign-in to devices. You can program multiple fingerprints to access the device. For more information, please go to Apple’s article, Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad.

This can be really helpful in addition to typing in your code.

• Go to Settings then, Touch ID & Passcode.
• Select Add a Fingerprint.
• Follow the steps on screen to add the fingerprint of the main user and the parent’s fingerprint.
  • You might want to add your SLP’s fingerprint too, or anyone else who helps with the device regularly.

Find My iPad🔗

“Find My” is Apple’s tracking service and app that’s used to locate missing Apple devices.

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap the device user’s name.
3. Tap Find My.
   • Sign in to your Apple Account. If you don’t have an Apple Account, tap Don’t have an Apple Account or forgot it? and follow the instructions.
4. Tap Find My iPad.
5. Toggle Find My iPad ON.

Offline Find My iPad (Optional)🔗

To see your device even when it’s not connected to Wi-Fi, you can turn on Find My Network.

1. You need to have an Apple Account to do this.
2. Open Settings.
3. Tap the device user’s name.
4. Tap Find My iPad.
5. Make sure that Find My iPad is ON.
6. Turn ON Find My network.
7. To have the location of your device sent to Apple when the battery is low, turn ON Send Last Location.
