If your QuickTalker Freestyle is managed by AbleNet, your speech app updates on its own. All you need to do is keep the device on and connected to Wi-Fi. Updates can prevent many common speech app problems.

Before You Begin

Is this article right for me? Check that your device is managed by AbleNet. If you have a managed device, you’re in the right place!

• If you have an unmanaged device, your speech app may not update on its own if the App Store isn’t available on the device. Follow the steps in Update Your Speech App from the App Store instead.

Instructions

1. Turn off Guided Access.
2. Exit the Speech App.
3. Connect your device to Wi-Fi.
4. Your device will now check for speech app updates on its own.

Tips for Getting Updates

• Keep Wi-Fi on overnight. Plug in your device to charge each night and leave Wi-Fi turned on.
• Ask for open Wi-Fi access at school. If the device stays at school, the school network needs to let it download updates. See Request Ongoing Wi-Fi Access from Your District.
