You’re here because: Your device’s battery runs low or dies before the end of the day.
What To Do
Low battery life is usually caused by device settings. A few settings use far more battery than others.
- Follow the steps in Extend Your Device’s Battery Life first.
- Use your device as usual. With these settings, your battery should last the whole day. If it doesn’t, try the other settings below.
Change Other Battery-Saving Settings
These settings also help, but they won’t make as big a difference as the ones above.
Turn Off Location Services for Apps
- Open Settings, then select Privacy & Security.
- Select Location Services.
- Select each app, then select Never.
Turn Off Background App Refresh
- Open Settings, then select General.
- Select Background App Refresh, then set it to Off.
Turn Off Unneeded System Services
- Open Settings, then select Privacy & Security.
- Select Location Services, then select System Services.
- Turn off every option except Find My iPad.
Stop Sharing Analytics
- Open Settings, then select Privacy & Security.
- Select Analytics & Improvements.
- Turn off every option.
Turn On Reduce Motion
- Open Settings, then select Accessibility.
- Select Motion, then turn on Reduce Motion.
- If your battery life still isn’t lasting the whole day, move on to “Next Steps.”
Next Steps
As batteries age and are used, they hold less charge. This is normal, and the settings above help you get the most from your battery as this happens.
- Keep a power bank or backup battery with your device so you can charge it during the day.
- If the battery still doesn’t last as long as it should afte ryou’ve followed all the recommended settings, submit a warranty request to receive a replacement device with a newer battery.
