Note: The below only applies to QuickTalkers that are not managed by our management system. You can find out which version you have by going the settings app and looking for the message below.

• If you do see that message, your device is managed and will update automatically as long as it is on and connected to Wi-Fi.
  • You can find more information about updating managed devices here.
• If you do not see that message follow the below instructions to update your speech app.

How to update your un-managed QuickTalker Freestyle

Updates to the QuickTalker Freestyle’s speech app may be necessary to install important performance enhancements with iPadOS. In the event updates are needed, please follow these steps:

1. Power on your QuickTalker Freestyle
2. Swipe from right to left to go to the App Library
3. Locate and select the Settings app
4. Connect to Wi-Fi
5. On the left side of the screen, locate and tap on Screen Time
6. On the right side of the screen, locate and tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions
7. Select iTunes and App Store Purchases
8. When prompted, you’ll need to enter the Restrictions Passcode
   • If you do not know your restrictions passcode contact ableCARE and they can assist with locating it.
9. Select Installing Apps and change to Allow
10. Open the App Store
11. Tap on the User icon on the top right-hand side of the screen
12. Select Purchased to see all apps that have been purchased
13. Press the back arrow in the upper left-hand side of the box to return to the account page
14. Locate the app you would like to update in the Upcoming Automatic Updates box.
15. You may need to swipe and hold in a downward direction from the middle of the screen to refresh the list of Upcoming Automatic Updates
16. Either tap on Update All (if any updates are available) to update all apps or tap on Update next to the speech app’s name
17. Re-enable restrictions by going back to the Settings menu
18. On the left side of the screen, locate and tap on Screen Time
19. On the right side of the screen, locate and tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions
20. Select iTunes and App Store Purchases
21. When prompted, you’ll need to enter the Restrictions Passcode
22. Select Installing Apps and change to Don’t Allow
