How to Update Your Speech App in the App Store
Note: The information below only applies to QuickTalkers that are not managed by AbleNet. You can find out which version you have by going to the settings app and looking for the message below.

- If you do see this message, your device is managed and will update automatically as long as it is on and connected to Wi-Fi.
- You can find more information about updating managed devices here.
- If you do not see this message, follow the instructions below to update your speech app.
How to update your un-managed QuickTalker Freestyleπ
Updates to the QuickTalker Freestyle’s speech app may be necessary to install important performance enhancements with iPadOS. In the event updates are needed, please follow these steps:
- Power on your QuickTalker Freestyle
- Swipe from right to left to go to the App Library
- Locate and select the Settings app
- Connect to Wi-Fi
- On the left side of the screen, locate and tap on Screen Time
- On the right side of the screen, locate and tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Select iTunes and App Store Purchases
- When prompted, you’ll need to enter the Restrictions Passcode
- If you do not know your restrictions passcode contact ableCARE and they can assist with locating it.
- Select Installing Apps and change to Allow
- Open the App Store
- Tap on the User icon on the top right-hand side of the screen
- Select Purchased
- Press the back arrow in the upper left-hand side of the box to return to the account page
- Locate the app you would like to update in the Upcoming Automatic Updates box.
- You may need to swipe up and hold in a downward direction from the middle of the screen to refresh the list of Upcoming Automatic Updates
- Either tap on Update All (if any updates are available) to update all apps or tap on Update next to the speech app’s name
- Re-enable restrictions by going back to the Settings menu
- On the left side of the screen, locate and tap on Screen Time
- On the right side of the screen, locate and tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Select iTunes and App Store Purchases
- When prompted, you’ll need to enter the Restrictions Passcode
- Select Installing Apps and change to Donβt Allow
