You’re here because: The screen on your device is cracked, chipped, shattered, or broken.

STOP – If there is sharp glass, stop using the device right away. Keep it away from children and pets and follow the steps below.

The good news: your device comes with a five-year warranty through AbleNet which covers screen damage and replacement keyguards. Whether the damage happened at home, at school, or on the go, we’ll help you get a replacement so communication can continue.

What to Do

  1. Leave the device in its case. The case helps keep glass pieces from spreading.
  2. Leave the keyguard in place if you have one. Don’t try to remove it.
  3. Avoid touching the cracked area with bare hands. When you need to move the device, carry it by the handle only.
  4. Cover the cracked area with clear tape, or place the device in a plastic bag.

Devices shipped after September 9, 2026 include a tempered glass screen protector over the display. It’s designed to take the hit so the screen underneath doesn’t have to, which means sometimes only the screen protector cracks.

  1. Look at the screen without touching it. Don’t try to remove the screen protector to check.
  2. Check the picture under the crack. If it looks clear and bright, with no black spots, lines, or strange colors, the damage may be limited to the screen protector.
  3. Contact ableCARE to request a replacement screen protector if you think only the screen protector is damaged. If you’re not sure, reach out anyway and we’ll figure it out together.

What to Do Next

If the screen itself is damaged, not the screen protector.

  1. Complete the Warranty Request Form to request a replacement device.
  2. Ship the damaged device back using the return label we send you. We’ll ship your replacement device Next Day Air once the damaged device is on its way back to us.
  3. If you also need a replacement keyguard, complete the Keyguard Request Form.

Next Steps

Don’t leave your loved one without a voice while you wait. Print some lite-tech backups they can use to communicate.

If your screen isn’t cracked, but looks weird, head to My Screen Has Lines, Blotches, or is Behaving Strangely.
