Before You Open the App: Account and Backup Setup

Good news! Weave Chat automatically creates backups to your Weave Chat account, so no additional backup setup is required before getting started.

Opening the App for the First Time

1. If you are new to the app, tap Sign Up. If you have used Weave Chat on another device before, tap Log In
2. Enter the user’s birth year
3. Select your preferred sign-in method (e.g. Google, Email, Mobile, or Apple)
4. Upon logging in, you will see three main areas of the app: 
   • Settings — Area where you can access editing
   • Connect — Allows you to remotely manage the app
   • Board — Goes directly into the communication board

How to Add a Board

1. From the main page, tap Settings
2. Tap Board Builder
3. Tap Add New Board in the top green banner
4. Select a premade board option, enter a name, and tap Save

 Exploring Vocabulary and Finding Words

Start exploring your vocabulary by browsing folders and pages. Use the Word Finder to quickly locate where words live within the system.

To access Word Finder:

Tap Finder in the bottom toolbar with the magnifying glass symbol.

Basic Customization: Making the App Personal

Begin simple customizations to better reflect the communicator’s needs and preferences.

How to Add or Edit Buttons

To add a new button:

1. Tap Board, then tap Edit in the bottom-left corner
2. Navigate to the page you want to edit
3. Tap New in the top purple toolbar
4. Tap Image, then tap Add New Custom Button
5. Select your preferred image from the photo library or Weave Chat images
6. Adjust the title, pronunciation, and category as needed
7. Tap Press to Save

Protecting Customizations

To prevent unwanted changes, it can be helpful to limit access to settings and edit mode.

To set up a PIN:

1. Tap Settings
2. Tap PIN Configuration
3. Type in your desired PIN
4. Check Enable PIN
5. Select what you would like the PIN to lock
6. Tap Press to Save

Lock the Device to the App (Optional)

To restrict access to only this app, enable Guided Access.

Guided Access setup: (Link or instructions needed)

To lock out specific areas of the screen:

1. Triple-click the Home button or Power button
2. On the Guided Access setup screen, draw around the areas of the screen you want to disable
3. Start Guided Access and confirm that the locked areas appear grayed out

Don’t Forget: Back Up Your App

Weave Chat automatically backs up your boards and customizations to your Weave Chat account. No manual backup steps are needed — just make sure you are logged in to your account to keep your data protected.
