Activate Your Subscription

TD Snap is a subscription-based app, which makes the set-up unique. If you haven’t activated your subscription yet, head over to the Self Service Subscription form.

Before You Open the App: Account & Backup Setup

Before opening your speech app, we recommend setting up your Dropbox account right away so you are ready to back up any personalizations to the app.

  • Go to the Utilities folder on the Home screen of the device
  • Open Dropbox
  • Create a free basic account

Opening the App for the First Time

After you go through your meeting with our AbleCARE team, you will be set up on a vocabulary. Here are the steps you’ll want to take after:

  1. Set up a MyTobii Account to make backups easier in the future
  2. Change your page set if needed. For help deciding which page set is right for you, visit the FAQs tab.

Exploring Vocabulary and Finding Words

Start exploring your vocabulary by browsing folders and pages. Use the Word Finder to quickly locate where words live within the system.

Tip: In many vocabulary sets, a Word Finder or search button is also available within the vocabulary itself, often on the keyboard or spelling page.

Basic Customization: Making the App Personal

Start with simple customizations to better reflect the communicator’s needs and preferences.

Protecting Customizations

To prevent unwanted changes, it can be helpful to limit access to settings and edit mode.

Restrict Editing Within the App

Lock the Device to the App (Optional)

To restrict access to only this app, enable Guided Access.

To lock out specific areas of the screen:

  1. Triple-click the Home button or Power button
  2. On the Guided Access setup screen, draw around the areas of the screen you want to disable
  3. Start Guided Access and confirm that the locked areas appear grayed out

Don’t Forget: Back Up Your Grid for iPad

Regular backups help protect vocabulary and customizations. We recommend backing up:

  • After initial setup
  • Following major edits
  • On a regular schedule
