If you saved a backup of your speech app to Dropbox, you can bring it back onto your device. This is helpful when you move to a new device or need to reset your speech app.
Before You Begin
- Make sure you have a backup of your speech app saved in Dropbox. To make one, see Back Up Your Speech App.
- Have your Dropbox email and password ready.
- Connect your device to Wi-Fi.
Instructions
The exact steps are a little different in each speech app. For step-by-step instructions for your app, see the Speech App Guides.
Most speech apps use one of the two ways below.
Restore From Inside Your Speech App
- Open your speech app.
- Open the app’s menu or settings.
- Look for an option such as Import, Restore, or Backup, then select it.
- Select Dropbox.
- Sign in to Dropbox if asked.
- Select your backup file. If several people save backups to the same Dropbox account, you may need to scroll to find the right one.
- Tap Restore, Import, or Save to finish.
Restore From the Dropbox App
Some speech apps ask you to start in Dropbox instead.
- Open the Dropbox app and sign in.
- Find your speech app backup file.
- Tap the three dots
next to the file. - Tap Save to Device.
- When asked, choose your speech app to open the file.
- Follow the prompts in your speech app to finish.
After the restore finishes, open your speech app and check that your vocabulary and settings are there.
