Your custom vocabulary represents hours of work tailoring communication to individual needs. Backing it up regularly means you can restore it quickly, without starting over, if your speech app is accidentally deleted, your device needs repair, or you move to a new device.

Before You Begin

You’ll need a Dropbox account. It’s already downloaded on your QuickTalker Freestyle.

Tip: Be sure to back up any photos or videos on your device separately.

Back Up Your Vocabulary

The exact steps are different in each speech app, but most follow the same basic process.

  1. Open Dropbox on your device and sign in.
  2. Open your speech app.
  3. Find the backup or export option in your speech app’s settings or menu.
  4. Choose Dropbox as the place to save your backup.
  5. Allow access if your speech app asks to connect to Dropbox.
  6. Select the vocabulary you’d like to back up, then upload it.
  7. Open Dropbox, then check that your backup file is there.

Some speech apps also back up automatically or to an online account. Check your speech app’s guide for details.
