You’re here because: Your speech app is asking for a password, passcode, or PIN before it will let you change its settings, and you can’t remember it.
Reset Your Password
Many speech apps have their own way to get past a forgotten password, such as a reset option, a security question, or a master password.
- Open your speech app, then go to Settings.
- Your speech app will ask for a password. Select Forgot Password or Reset.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- You’re done!
Turn Off Passwords
Some speech apps let you turn off their password from the device’s Settings app.
- Open Settings in your Utilities folder.
- Scroll down and select Apps.
- Select your speech app from the list.
- Find the password or passcode setting, then turn it off. The name of this setting is different in each speech app.
- Open your speech app and go to its settings. If it doesn’t ask for a password, you’re all set. If your speech app doesn’t have a password setting in the Settings app, try the next section.
Use a Master Password
Some speech apps use a Master Password that unlocks your app even if you forgot your password.
- If there’s no reset option, or you can’t answer the security question, go to the Speech Apps page, then select your speech app to find its master password.
- Enter the master password when your speech app asks for it.
- Go to your app’s Settings and create a new password.
