You’re here because: Your speech app is locked on the screen and you can’t leave it.

Before You Begin

Have your Guided Access passcode ready. If you forgot it, go to “What to Do Next” and follow step 2.

Exit Guided Access

The most likely issue is that Guided Access is turned on. Guided Access is an accessibility setting that keeps the device focused on your speech app during use.

Tip: We recommend exiting Guided Access each night to prevent common issues.

  1. While in your speech app, triple-press the Power Button (devices without a home button) or Home Button.
  2. Enter your Guided Access passcode when prompted.
  3. Tap End in the top left corner.

If it worked, Guided Access turns off and you can leave your speech app. If triple-pressing the button does not work, go to “What to Do Next.”

What to Do Next

If triple-pressing the button does not work, try these solutions.

  1. Force Restart Your Device. A force restart can resolve many Guided Access issues. When you start your device up again, you should be able to use the device normally.
  2. Let the device run out of power. Once it turns off, recharge it. When it restarts, Guided Access should be automatically turned off.
