Setting Up In-App Switch Scanning in TD Snap

This article will walk TD Snap users through setting up switch scanning in the app.
Before You Begin๐
Make sure you have a Blue2 FT and that it is connected via Bluetooth. For more information regarding setting up the Blue2 FT check out our Getting Started with Blue2 FT article.
Turn On Scanning in TD Snap๐
- Open TD Snap.
- Select Settings (gear with the pencil in the top right corner)
- Select User on the bottom of the screen
- Select Access Method
- Change the Access Method to Scanning
Configure switches๐
First decide whether you will use one switch or two switches. If you need help deciding, check out What is Scanning?
If you are using wired switches, plug them into the Blue2 FT before starting.
Under the “Scan Type” section, you will select whether you are using one switch or two switches.
Setting up One Switch๐
- Set Scan Type to 1 Switch Autoscan.
- Under “Scan Type,” scroll down to “Switch Options.”
- This is the setting to make sure the symbol on the Blue2FT matches the command.ย The Blue2FT comes pre-programmed with the following settings:
- Blue Switch is programmed to “Space.”
- Yellow Switch is programmed to “Enter.”
- Test this by pressing each switch. Space should light up when the blue switch is pressed and Enter should light up when the yellow switch is pressed.
- If the correct symbols do not appear:
- Turn the Blue2 FT over.
- Turn ON the โMโ (mode) switch.
- Activate the switch until the correct symbol lights up.
- Turn the โMโ switch OFF to finish.
- If the correct symbols do not appear:
- The “Autoscan Options” section allows for adjusting the speed and audio cue.ย Once those settings are customized, hit Access Method at the top in blue to go back.
- This is the setting to make sure the symbol on the Blue2FT matches the command.ย The Blue2FT comes pre-programmed with the following settings:
- Scan Behaviors refers to the pattern of the scan (i.e. linear, row/column).
- Audio Feedback allows you to change the feedback voice for the auditory cue.ย Having a feedback voice that is different from the user voice can be helpful in differentiating between the scanning of choices versus intentional communication.
Setting up Two Switches๐
- Set Scan Type to 2 Switch Step Scan
- Under “Scan Type,” scroll down to “Switch Options.”
- This is the setting to make sure the symbol on the Blue2FT matches the command.ย The Blue2FT comes pre-programmed with the following settings:
- Blue Switch is programmed to “Space.”
- Yellow Switch is programmed to “Enter.”
- Test this by pressing each switch. Space should light up when the blue switch is pressed and Enter should light up when the yellow switch is pressed.
- If the correct symbols do not appear:
- Turn the Blue2 FT over.
- Turn ON the โMโ (mode) switch.
- Activate the switch until the correct symbol lights up.
- Turn the โMโ switch OFF to finish.

Switch 1: Stepper (moves the scan)
- Use the blue switch.
- This switch moves the scan highlight to the next item.
- Set the switch to Space.
To Check:
- Activate the blue side of the Blue2 FT.
- The first symbol (open-bracket shape) should light up.
Switch 2 : Selector (chooses the item)
- Use the yellow switch.
- This switch selects the highlighted item
- Set the switch to Enter
To Check:
- Activate the yellow side of the Blue2 FT.
- The second symbol (left-arrow shape) should light up.
