This article will walk GoTalk NOW Plus users through setting up switch and scanning access using the Blue2 FT.

Before You Begin🔗

Make sure you have a Blue2 FT and that it is connected via Bluetooth. For more information about setting up the Blue2 FT check out our Get Started with Blue2 FT article. 

Connect Blue2 to QuickTalker via Bluetooth🔗

  1. On the QuickTalker device, navigate to Settings then Bluetooth
  2. Power on the Blue2 FT and press the Bluetooth button located next to S1.
  3. Blue2 FT should appear in the QuickTalker Bluetooth device list.
  4. Select Blue2 FT, then select Pair.

The Blue2 FT is connected to the QuickTalker Freestyle.

Configure Blue2 FT Switch Assignment🔗

Check that one of the switch cells (blue or yellow) activates the space bar. To test this, hit the switch cell and note what symbol lights up on the switch. If it’s not the space bar, then follow the steps below.

To change the switch assignment:

  1. Toggle on the M (circle icon) on the underside of the Blue2.
  2. Press the switch repeatedly until it scans through and highlights the first symbol (space bar).
  3. Toggle off the M to save the setting.

The space bar now highlights every time the switch cell is activated.

Configure Scanning in Go Talk Now Plus🔗

  1. Open GoTalk NOW Plus.
  2. Select Settings, then scroll down to “Scanning.”
  3. Set “Scanning Device Type” to Space and Enter Switch.
  4. Configure Auto Scan based on access method:
    1. One switch auditory scan: Toggle Auto Scan ON.
    1. Two switch step scanning: Leave Auto Scan OFF.
  5. Toggle ON “GoTalk NOW Auditory Cues Replace iOS Cues.”
  6. Scroll up to “Auditory Cues” and select Regular Volume.

In-app switch scanning is active in GoTalk NOW Plus.

Optional: Set Up Auditory Cues per Cell 🔗

To add individual auditory cues to page cells, follow these steps for each cell:

  1. Go to Page Editor.
  2. Select the desired cell.
  3. Select Auditory Cue and program the cue content.
  4. Select Done.
  5. Repeat for each remaining cell.

Note: Auditory cues must be programmed individually for each cell.

Configure Player Settings🔗

  1. From the main screen, hold down the home (house) icon for 8 seconds to access Player Settings.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Under “Player Settings,” select Auditory Cues and choose Regular Volume.
  4. To enable auditory cues for navigation and interface features, toggle ON “Auditory Cues for Navigation/Interface.”
