No Utilization Required Speech Evaluation FAQ
In addition to the below, please view the sample evaluation and ableGUIDE in your client-specific evaluation link.
Do I need to provide specific data from sessions in the speech evaluation when a utilization period is not required by insurance?🔗
No. The insurance company does not require data in your speech evaluation to justify your recommendation of the QuickTalker Freestyle. Instead, consider the reasons you opened the funding request and discuss these in your report. You will be asked to consider and rule out two alternative communication methods, including those that are less costly (low-tech, mid-tech, etc.), or natural communication. You will also be asked to highlight your client’s prognosis with the use of an SGD..
Why did my client receive a QuickTalker Freestyle if their insurance does not require a utilization period for the device?🔗
As part of the ableEXPERIENCE, we strive to get the device into your client’s hands ASAP! While no utilization period is required, we encourage you to utilize the device throughout the funding process – before, during, and after you complete and submit the report – because no one should go without a voice.
Got it! I have no utilization duration requirement but would still like to observe my client using the device. Is that okay?🔗
We encourage SLPs to take the time they need to utilize the device and write their evaluation, even if the insurance company does not require a device utilization period. If you would still like to utilize the device, we recommend a duration of 12 days and encourage you to submit your report afterward. The sooner we receive your evaluation; the sooner your client can permanently keep their device.
Is the speech app I recommend in the evaluation the only option once funded?🔗
Once funded, with our five-year warranty, you can change your client’s speech app at any time by submitting an app swap request form.
