Read aloud the book, modeling the body parts with the individual and on their AAC device. Point to pictures in the book and pause to see if they will find the body part on themselves and their AAC device independently or with minimal prompts/cues over time
Allow free play with pieces from Mr. Potato Head. Model the names of each body part on the AAC device. You can also model other core words including “want, help, more, on/off.”
Listen or sing the song “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” Show the individual each body part and dance together. Ask questions such as “Where is you head?” see if they can find it and use the word “head” on their device.
