How to Add Multiple Languages and Set Up a Language Toggle in TouchChat
Step 1: Add a New Language 🔗
To add another language other than English to your vocabulary files, please follow the steps below:
- On the vocabulary page, go to Menu at the top right.
- Select Language and Region.
- Click the blue plus at the top right.
- Choose the supported language you would like to add (e.g. Spanish, Hebrew, French, Chinese).
- Select the blue checkmark at top left.
- Now further vocabulary options will populate!
Step 2: Create Language Vocabularies🔗
After your additional language has been added, please follow steps below to create personalized copies for vocabularies in both languages:
- Select the desired vocabulary in English.
- Select Customize.
- Rename the vocabulary so you can easily identify it.
- We recommend something like: English WordPower60-Student’s name
- Hit Save.
- Repeat steps with additional language vocabulary
- When these steps are completed, you should have a vocabulary for each language under “My Files”.
Step 3: Set Up Bilingual Toggle🔗
To set up a bilingual toggle between two vocabularies, please follow the steps below:
*Please note that I am using Spanish as an example of a secondary language in directions below
- Select the desired vocabulary in English.
- Think about where you want to set up the toggle. If you want to set up the toggle on the home page, we recommend using the “period” button as this is accessible on other pages. You want to make sure you are not replacing a necessary core word on the home screen.Â
- Go to Menu.
- Select Edit Page.
- Select the button you are editing to act as the toggle.
- Select Edit This Button.
- Change button label to the name of the language you would like to toggle to.
- For example, “Spanish.”
- Scroll to the bottom and delete all actions currently on button by going to Edit, then click on the red icon to the left of each action.
- Select Add under “Button Actions.”
- Add Go to Vocabulary.
- Select the language vocabulary you want the page set to toggle to.
- Select Save at top right.
- Select Done at top left.
- One toggle is now set up! Now repeat steps on Spanish vocabulary
