Opening the App for the First Time

When you open the app, you will see a screen with some pre-made messages and categories. 

Note that head tracking is turned on by default. 

To turn head tracking off:

1. Tap the Settings/Gear icon in the top right of the app
2. Select Selection Mode
3. Toggle off “Head Tracking” 

When you return to the main screen, you can navigate through pre-made pages or select the keyboard icon to type a message.

Exploring Vocabulary and Finding Words

Vocable is not a core-word-based app, so there is no word search feature. This app is designed for literate users who can type their message directly. You do have the option to save frequently used phrases, which is explained in the next section.

Basic Customization: Making the App Personal

Vocable is geared toward literate users and has limited customization. To save common phrases:

1. Tap Settings
2. Tap Categories and Phrases
3. Select a category or the + icon to add a new category
4. Select Edit or Add to customize messages

Backing Up

This app does not offer a way to export/back up customized phrases to DropBox, Drive, etc. due to its nature of being a text to speech app. We recommend saving important information and messages in another document to reference should you need to re-add messages at a later time.
