Before You Open the App: Account and Backup Setup
Before opening your speech app, we recommend setting up your Dropbox account right away so you are ready to back up any personalizations on the app!
- Go to the Utilities folder on the Home Page of the device
- Open Dropbox
- Create a free/basic account
Opening the App for the First Time
- The app will open to a “Let’s Try Out Some Voices screen”
- Choose your voice (this can be changed later if needed)
- Internet connection is required to use your chosen voice, but when disconnected it will switch to a fallback voice.
- Sign in using an email address or Apple ID
- Confirm your email using the registration code sent to you
For a walkthrough of the app, see Getting Started with Spoken
Exploring Vocabulary and Finding Words
Spoken differs from many other AAC apps in that it focuses on word prediction based on each initial selection, rather than a symbol-based or category-based grid. Start by selecting a word on the home screen and exploring the predictions that follow.
