Before You Open the App: Account and Backup Setup
Before opening your speech app, we recommend setting up your Dropbox account right away so you are ready to back up any personalizations to the app.
- Go to the Utilities folder on the Home screen of the device
- Open Dropbox
- Create a free basic account
Opening the App for the First Time
- Connect your QuickTalker Freestyle to Wi-Fi by going to the Utilities folder, then opening the Settings app and selecting Wi-Fi.
- A Wi-Fi connection is required to authenticate your app license and download your voice file
- When you first open the Proloquo app, tap Get Started
- On the “Create an AssistiveWare Account” screen, tap Skip c
- Creating an account is not necessary to get started and can be done later
- Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to finish configuring Proloquo (taking the tour is optional)
- You will now see the home screen and can jump right in!

Exploring Vocabulary and Finding Words
Start exploring your vocabulary by browsing folders and pages. Use the Word Finder to quickly locate where words live within the system.

Basic Customization: Making the App Personal
Begin simple customizations to better reflect the communicator’s needs and preferences.

Protecting Customizations
To prevent unwanted changes, lock customizations in place by navigating to Settings and selecting Lock Customizations.
Don’t Forget: Back Up Your App
Regular backups help protect vocabulary and customizations. We recommend backing up:
- After initial setup
- Following major edits
- On a regular schedule
