Before You Open the App: Account and Backup Setup

Before opening your speech app, we recommend setting up your DropBox account right away so you are ready to back up any personalization’s on the app!

1. Go to the Utilities folder on the Home Page of the device
2. Open DropBox
3. Create a free/basic account

Opening the App for the First Time

1. Select your language
2. Complete the Tell Us About Yourself page: 
   • The app is being set up by…
   • This license was purchased/funded by… (Business)
   • Organization name
   • Enter contact email
3. Select your preferred age range and voice
4. Choose a grid size (6 x 10 recommended)
5. Tap Set Up

Exploring Vocab and Finding Words

Start exploring your vocabulary by browsing folders and pages. Locate the word finder/search tool to help you quickly find where words live within the system.

Basic Customization: Making the App Personal

Begin simple customizations to better reflect the communicator’s needs and preferences.

Protecting Customizations

To prevent unwanted changes, it can be helpful to limit access to settings and edit mode.

Don’t Forget: Back Up Your App

Regular backups help protect vocabulary and customizations.

We recommend backing up:

• After initial setup
• Following major edits
• On a regular schedule

How to Back Up Avaz

Please note: Avaz requires internet connection for backups to sync to a cloud service like Dropbox. The app will automatically backup every 7 or 15 days in the app, but we recommend manual backups frequently to ensure the backup is made and customization to be preserved.
