Guided Access keeps the speech app open on your QuickTalker Freestyle, so it can’t close by accident or switch to other apps. That way, your voice is always ready whenever you want to talk.
Before You Begin
Pick a passcode you’ll remember. You’ll create a 6-digit passcode, and you’ll need it every time you turn off Guided Access. Choose something easy to remember, but secure.
Set Up Guided Access
You only need to do this once.
- Open Settings, then select Accessibility.
- Select Guided Access.
- Turn on Guided Access.
- Tap Passcode Settings, then create a 6-digit passcode.
- Enter your passcode again to confirm it.
- Turn on Accessibility Shortcut.
Start Guided Access
- Open your speech app.
- Start Guided Access:
- For devices with a home button, triple-press the Home button quickly.
- On devices without a home button, triple-press the Power button instead.
- Tap Start at the top of the screen.
- Try to leave the speech app to test it. The device should stay locked in the speech app until you enter your passcode.
Turn Off Guided Access
- For devices with a home button, triple-press the Home button quickly. On devices without a home button, triple-press the Power button instead.
- Enter your passcode.
- Tap End.
Tip: Every night before bed, turn off Guided Access, plug your device in to charge, and make sure it’s connected to Wi-Fi. This helps prevent freezing and lets updates install overnight.
