Windows: Wipe and Restore From Apple Devices on a Windows Computer
- Before you start, make sure to back up your speech app to Dropbox and back up your iPad to iCloud.
- Open Apple Devices app on Windows computer (click here to download)
- Connect the iPad to Windows computer via Lightning or USB C cable
- On Windows computer in Apple Devices app, select Trust
- On iPad, when asked Trust This Computer?, select Trust
- On the Windows computer in the Apple Devices app, select Restore iPad.
- When asked “Do you want to back up the settings for the iPad?,” select Don’t Back Up.
- When asked “Are you sure you want to restore the iPad?,” select Restore.
- If presented with details about iPadOS, select Next.
- When presented with the iPadOS Software License Agreement, select Agree.
- You’ll see “Your computer is downloading the software for this iPad…” at the bottom of the screen; you’ll find the status of the download. The iPadOS download may take several minutes to complete.
- Once the iPadOS download is complete, your iPad will begin to be restored, and you’ll see a white Apple logo on the iPad while this is happening.
- Once the Hello screen appears on your iPad, unplug the Lightning or USB C cable from your computer and iPad
- On the iPad, follow the onscreen instructions.
- On the Remote Management screen, select Enroll this iPad.
- On the Multitasking & Windowing screen, select Full Screen Apps.
- Once you have completed all the on-screen instructions, the background of the iPad should change to the orange QuickTalker Freestyle background.
- Reload your speech app:
- If your iPad has the Mobile Assist app, open it and select your speech app from the drop-down menu, and then select Submit.
- If your device doesn’t have the Mobile Assist app, submit a warranty request to add your speech app back to your device. Leave your device connected to Wi-Fi until the speech app has been pushed to the device and downloaded.
