Ensuring the QuickTalker Freestyle Can Only Be Used as a Speech Device

The QuickTalker Freestyle iOS-based device is provided to assist with speech as a medical device for individuals who are non-verbal. Although the device is iOS-based, it has been technically configured to ONLY allow access to the speech application feature. Because these features have been disabled, the device should not violate any policies that some establishments may regulate regarding intellectual property, such as sporting events, concert venues, etc.
If you’ve modified your device’s restrictions configuration, we recommend modifying necessary restrictions on the device prior to attending any of the above events. This will ensure you meet any requirements of restrictions in accordance with any establishment’s guidelines. To verify the status of the above features on the device, we encourage you to test the following:
- Taking a picture via the Camera app
- Taking a video via the Camera app
- Tapping the share icon available in most apps
If these features can be used, adjustments will need to be made in your device’s settings. To learn more about adjusting restrictions, please click here to access our knowledge base article that details this process.
If you are attending an event that will have additional restrictions on device use, please click here to download a copy of our letter confirming that the QuickTalker Freestyle is a dedicated speech device.
