Set Up Scanning in PRC Apps
Using In-App Scanning with TouchChat, LAMP Words for Life, and Unityđź”—
With the latest update from PRC-Saltillo, TouchChat, LAMP and Unity; you no longer have to use the iOS accessibility settings for scanning. Instead you can use their in-app settings to best meet your client’s needs.
Before you begin:đź”—
Make sure you have a Blue2FT and that it is connected via Bluetooth. For more information regarding setting up the Blue2FT check out our getting started article.Â
Turn on scanning in the app:đź”—
- Open the communication app.
- From the vocabulary screen, select Menu.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Turn Scanning Enabled ON.
- Additional scanning options will now appear.
Configure switchesđź”—
First decide whether you will use one switch or two switches.
If you are using wired switches, plug them into the Blue2 FT before starting setup.
Set up One Switch
- Select 1 Switch.
- Choose Switch 1.
- Activate (press) the switch so it connects.
- Select the blue checkmark to save.
Set up Two Switches
Switch 1 : Stepper (moves the scan)
- Use the blue switch.
- This switch moves the scan highlight to the next item.
- Set the switch to Space.
To Check:
- Activate the blue side of the Blue2 FT.
- The first symbol (open-bracket shape) should light up.
Switch 2 : Selector (chooses the item)
- Use the yellow switch.
- This switch selects the highlighted item
- Set the switch to Enter
To Check:
- Activate the yellow side of the Blue2 FT.
- The second symbol (left-arrow shape) should light up.
Adjust the Switch Functions (if needed)đź”—
- If the correct symbols do not appear:
- Turn the Blue2 FT over.
- Turn ON the “M” (mode) switch.
- Activate the switch until the correct symbol lights up.
- Turn the “M” switch OFF to finish.
Next Stepsđź”—
Once switches are configured, review the remaining scanning settings in the app to adjust:
- Scan speed
- Scan pattern
- Auditory or visual prompts
- Automatic vs. step scanning
These options allow scanning to be customized for each user.
