How to Enable Hold Duration

If you want to prevent the QuickTalker Freestyle user from selecting the same option repeatedly, you can enable the Hold Duration feature. This feature lets you specify a certain amount of time that a user must hold down on a vocabulary cell before it’s selected. You can set this hold time from milliseconds to a few seconds.
To enable Hold Duration go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Touch Accommodations and turn on Touch Accommodations, then turn on Hold Duration.
After enabling Hold Duration, you will notice a second box below it. Here you can adjust the time the screen needs to be touched before the device will recognize a touch input.
This feature is also available in many apps but may be called Touch Accommodations or Dwell. These settings will be found in the app itself.
This feature is also useful if you’re experiencing issues with an app where a force restart doesn’t fix the problem of a vocabulary cell not responding to touch. Try holding down on the vocabulary cell for a few seconds to troubleshoot this. If it starts working after this, you’ll need to disable Hold Duration in either the app’s settings or the iPad’s settings.
